Animax Cosplay Competition

General Cosplay Rules:

1. The cosplay competition is opened to everyone regardless of nationality, age or gender. Everyone is welcomed to join.

2. Participants below the age of 12 MUST have their own parent’s consent before registering for the competition. The Youth Jam Cosplay committee will automatically assume that the parent has allowed his/her child to participate and will not be held liable for any mishaps that may occur.

3. All materials (eg. Costumes, props, make up and audio) are to be prepared by the cosplayer themselves. All cosplayers are to be responsible for their own property; The Youth Jam Cosplay committee holds no responsibility towards any damages or losses during the event.

4. For the safety of everyone who will be attending the event, no volatile/explosive/toxic/radioactive/reactive/corrosive/easily flammable substances are allowed. Dangerous weapons that may bring harm to others are forbidden as well. Nerf guns are allowed but please do not fire at the public or anyone while on stage and at all times during the event. Usage of real weapons will result in immediate disqualification.

5. Acts that include non-solid particles (eg. Water, fake blood) and small messy objects (eg. Confetti, flash paper) are strictly banned.

6. Please do not show up partially clothed and/or nude. Anyone who does so will not be allowed access.

7. Please do not use any obscenities, foul languages and rude hand signs at all times during the event. Poses that require extreme bodily contacts that suggest sexual behaviors is a strictly not allowed, including any kind of sexual fetishes related poses.

8. Photographers are not allowed to stalk or to take any cosplayer’s picture without their consent or permission. The cosplayer has the right to refuse any photo shooting requests made by any photographer. Photo shooting in the washrooms are strictly disallowed.

9. Under NO circumstances are cosplayers allowed to enter the changing room or washrooms of the opposite gender.

10. Cosplay at your own risk. The Youth Jam committee will not be responsible for any damage or harm done to cosplayers or their props. Cosplayers are to be responsible for their own safety.

11. The Youth Jam Cosplay committee has the right to withdraw the participation rights of any cosplayer if they are found breaking the rules. A grace period of 2 minutes will be given for cosplayers late for their performance.

12. Prizes will be forfeited if the cosplayers are not present at the prize giving ceremony. No appeals will be entertained.

13. The Youth Jam Cosplay committee may record or photograph participating contestants' act/performance at its discretion. Entry into this competition constitutes an agreement by the participants to allow the Youth Jam Cosplay committee to use their photographs, video and the like in any current/future advertisement, promotion or product.

Cosplay competition rules and regulations:

1. The cosplay competition will be held on the 1st day of the event (4th June 2011).

2. If the cosplayer (solo/group) requires music during his/her performance, he/she is required to submit an audio CD that contains the song that he/she requires during his/her performance at the registration booth on the day itself before the competition starts. Kindly attach/upload the song somewhere (mediafire/megaupload) or attach in the email when submitting the registration form to silentsacrifices@live.co.uk . For cosplayers joining the group category, only the leader is required to register his/her group.

3. The cosplay competition is split into two categories: Solo and Group.

4. Cosplayers are allowed to cosplay any character from the following genre:

• Anime

• Manga

• Games

• Movies

• J-pop/rock (with specific title)

5. Original cosplays are not allowed.

6. For the preliminary round of the solo competition, participants are required to do whatever they feel befits the manner of the character they are cosplaying. Participants are encouraged to portray their character’s signature move/style/pose/personality. 3 poses are required.

7. 10 finalists from the solo category will then be selected by the judges and they will be tested again in the final round to see how well they can stay in character.

8. For cosplayers joining the group category, a skit/performance will be required. The judges will then judge accordingly.

9. The time limit for the solo cosplayer’s performance is 2 minutes. The time limit for the group cosplayer’s performance is 4 minutes.

10. There are 6 prizes to be won in total in the Best Solo Cosplayer and Best Group Cosplayers category. They are the first prize, runner up and second runner up.

11. The judges' decision is final. No appeals will be entertained.

Registration Fees:

1. The registration fees will cost RM10 per cosplayer. (For cosplayers joining in the group category, = amount of members x RM10). A refund of RM5 will be given on the 4th of June when the cosplayers register themselves at the registration table.

Award: Prizes worth of RM 3,000 (USD 1,000) ups for grabs and a chance to be on Animax Astro !

Arm Wrestling Competition

Rules and Regulations :

1. The competitors shoulders must be square to the table before the match will be started.

2. The competitors shoulders may not be less than a fist distance away from their hands at the start.

3. All starts will be a 'Ready.....Go' . The cadence will vary.

4. Any competitor may use a riser if their belt line is below the top of the table. The competitor is responsible for placing and then returning the riser after the match.

5. To make a winning pin you must touch your opponent to the touch pad. There will be no parallel pin calls, you must be touched to lose.

6. You may touch any part of your opponents fingers, wrist or forearm to the pad to constitute a pin.

7. You may not, at any time, touch your body to your hand.

8. If a competitor touches his body to his hand, and Position is Gained, there will be a restart and a foul given.

9. If a competitor touches his body to his hand and stops the momentum of his opponent there will be a restart and a foul given.

10. If a competitor violates Rule #8 or in a DEFINITE LOSING POSITION the match will be awarded to his opponent.

11. You will forfeit the match with your third foul.

12. If a competitor intentionally opens his-her hand and a slip occurs the referee will restart the match and a foul will be given.

13. If a competitor violates Rule #12 in a DEFINITE LOSING POSITION and the referee feels that if the competitor had not slipped that he would have been pinned, the referee will award the match to the other competitor.

14. If the grip comes apart for whatever reason, the competitors hands will be strapped together.

15. The competitors shoulder can not go past the center of the table.

16. If the competitor is in a position that may hurt his arm the referee will stop the match and may award a foul.

17. If the referee has to stop the match a second time for the 'hurt arm' position the match will be awarded to his opponent.

18. You must start with at least one foot on the ground. After the "go" you may have both feet off the ground.

19. You may wrap only one finger in the hand grip before the 'go'.

20. The referee must see both competitors thumb knuckles unless both competitors agree to wave the rule.

21. A false start is a foul.

22. The competitors must maintain contact with the peg when the pin is made.

23. If the competitors elbow comes out of the pocket AND HE GAINS POSITION, there will be a foul given and the referee has the option to give a restart.

24. If the competitors elbow comes out of the pocket and NO POSITION IS GAINED, if it goes back into the pocket, the referee will give a verbal warning.

25. If the elbow is out of the pocket when the pin is made a foul will be given and the match will be restarted.

26. If rule #24 occurs and the elbow stays out of the pocket a foul will be given and the referee has the option to call for a restart.

27. If the competitors elbow comes out of the pocked a second time a second foul will be given and the referee has the option to call for an additional restart.

28. The equal pressure rule follows the line of least resistance, both competitors must agree on the pressure applied before the start.

29. Never stop competing until the referee grabs the hands in the center signifying the end of the match.

30. The competitors will always conduct themselves in a sportsperson like manner while at the tournament.

31. The referee has the option to give a disciplinary foul to the competitor for any un-sports person like conduct.

32. If the competitors cannot get a grip the referee will give the competitors a 'referees grip'. After the grip is given any movement at all will result in a foul.

33. ALL REFEREE DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

Rules n regulation

Only Single Category : 3 game 2 win, 11 balls per match

Before you start a game, you'll need to decide who's going to serve first.

-hide the ball in one hand, put both your hands under the table, and then ask your opponent to guess which hand the ball is in.\

-Although the winner of this usually serves first, he does actually have three choices ...

The winner can:

-elect to serve first or

-make his opponent serve first or

-decide which end of the table he prefers to play at first

-If the winner chooses a particular end of the table, his opponent then has the choice of whether to serve first or to make his opponent serve first.

-If the winner chooses to serve first, his opponent then has the choice of which end of the table he prefers to play at first.-

Basic table tennis serve

-The server must stand behind the end of the table to serve.

-The basic serve involves holding the ball in the palm of your non-playing hand and throwing it upwards.

-As the ball is falling, you must hit it with your racket (also known as a paddle or bat) held in your playing hand so that it bounces once on your side of the table, and at least once on your opponent's side of the table.

-If your opponent allows the ball to bounce more than once on their side of the table, they will lose the point.

-The ball may bounce anywhere on both sides of the table and unlike tennis, you don't have to serve to one part of the table - unless you're playing doubles.

-If the ball touches the net and still bounces on your opponent's side of the table, the service must be replayed.

-If the ball touches the net and does not bounce on your opponent's side of the table, the server loses the point.

How many serves?

-When the rules of table tennis were changed to make each game up to 11 points instead of 21 points, the number of serves that each player had was also changed.

-Each player has two serves each.

-Service continues to alternate between opponents until one player scores 11 points, unless both players or pairs score 10 points (called deuce).

-If both players reach 10 points, then service alternates after each point, until one player gains a two point lead.

Returning the serve

-Your opponent must hit the ball back over the net so that it bounces only on the server's side of the table and the ball must bounce at least once on the server's side of the table.

-If you allow the ball to bounce more than once on your side of the table at any time, you lose the point.

-When returning the serve, or during a rally, if the ball hits the net but does not hit your opponent's half of the table, then a point is awarded to your opponent.

-If the ball hits the net but still goes over and bounces on your opponent's half of the table, the point continues.

-To score a point, you must keep the ball in play longer than your opponent.

-A player loses a point if he:

-Fails to make a good serve (eg. throwing the ball in the air and failing to hit the ball or failing to hit it onto his opponent's

side of the table)

-Allows the ball to bounce twice on his side of the table

-Does not hit the ball after it has bounced on his side of the table

-Does not hit the ball onto his opponent's side of the table

-Hits the ball before it has bounced (i.e. volleying the ball) unless it's obviously not going to bounce on his side of the table

-Hits the ball twice in succession (i.e. a double hit)

-Puts his non-playing hand on the table or net or moves the table

-Obstructs the ball with any part of his body or clothing (unless it's obviously not going to bounce on his side of the table)

-As we said earlier, when one player has scored 11 points (or when one player has a two point lead if the score previously reached 10-10), he wins the game.

-The players then swop ends and the next game begins with the player who served second in the previous game.

-The rules of table tennis state that a match is the best of any odd number of games - usually 3, 5 or 7 games.

Theme: The Best Reaction on the Youth Jam 11 event
(Open for Non Sony Camera also. All kind of camera are welcome to join.)

Term & Condition:

1. The photography contest is open to all Malaysian citizens and foreign visitors.

2. Each participant is required to pay a registration fee of RM10.

(Those who paid RM15, we will refund RM5)

3. All photographs must be taken within Youth Jam 11 Event locality only.

4. Participants must bring their own camera and equipment’s.

5. Penang Youths will not held responsible for any unforeseen circumstances or accidents, which occur, inside the locality.

6. Participants can send in five entry; and will only win one (1) prize or place.

7. Each entry must be accompanied by the date of the image was taken and also a tagline for the photograph.

8. No digital super imposition is allowed. Composite photographs or any form of digital manipulations will not be accepted. Only minor image touch-ups such as cropping, adjustment of brightness and colors as well as softening or sharpening of the image are allowed.

9. Images submitted to the submitted booth that given by the organizer on the event. Photo will be transfer to the laptop and will be judge on TV.

10. All photographs submitted must be originally produced and must have not been sold or granted permission to use to any other party. The copyright and any other rights (including the ownership, and right to use and display) of all images submitted shall remain with the Youth Jam 11 (Penang Youths) after submission regardless of winning or not winning in the competition.

11. Assessment of the photograph will be based on technical quality, composition and originality and also tagline.

12. The submissions will be judged on 5th June 2011 and it will be judged by the Sponsor, Organizer & Committee Members and all decisions made are final and no correspondence will be entertained.

13. Winners will be announced on the prize-giving day on 5th June 2011. All winners will be invited to the Prize Giving Ceremony which is at 5th June 2011 at night. Youth Jam 11 reserves the right to substitute the prizes with equivalent value.

14. Youth Jam 11 will not be held liable in the event of loss, personal injury, or death as a result of participation in the competition.

15. The starting date is on 4th June 2011 at 10am sharp and closing date for these submissions is on 5th June 2011 at 5pm sharp Submission after the stated date will not be entertained.

By participating in this contest, participants agree to be bound by these official rules and regulations and the decisions by Youth Jam 11 and waive any right to claim ambiguity in this contest rules. Photography gallery viewing will be available at Penang Youths Website from 20th June 2011.

Terms & Condition

1. How long do I/we have to perform?

You are given TWO (2) minutes of set-up / preparation time and FIVE (5) minutes to perform your item. The 5-minutes starts after the 2-minutes set-up time is over, or as soon as you are ready to perform, whichever comes first.

2. How many songs/dance routine do I/we need to perform?

The presentation item must be ONE (1) continuous piece of music. It can be a medley/mash-up of different songs, but there must not be any break between the songs.

3. Can I join more than once?

You may, but it has to be a different team-member set-up. For example, you may join once as an individual/soloist performer, a second time with a partner (e.g. duet singing), a third time in a full band, and a fourth time with a dance crew. You may also perform in more than one band/crew. Kindly note that the organisers reserve the right to delay your following appearance, to allow space for other participants who are waiting for their turns. This may affect your team members' schedule, so do plan accordingly or make your next appearance in a different Audition venue! :)

4. Can I join once as a solo drummer, and again as a solo guitarist/violinist/etc.?

No. It must be a different team-member set-up. The same applies for duo/band/etc. The competition goes by WHO is performing, not what is being played/performed. 5. Can I join once as an individual dancer and again in a group dance.

Yes, you may.

6. Do I/we need a name?

Soloists & duos are welcomed to go by their real names. Nicknames are permitted. A team with three or more members will need to provide a name for the team.

7. What is the maximum number of members allowed in this competition?

You are only allowed to have a maximum number of 7 members in your dance group or band.

8. Can I/we play two or more items?

This depends on the available time. If there are no other participants waiting for their turn, you may be invited to perform another item. However, it has to be a different item (different song/music/piece). You may NOT repeat the same performance. At the end of your performances, you will be asked to choose ONE (1) of the performed items to be uploaded for voting on Facebook. Please note that permission to perform more than one item is at absolute discretion of the organisers. Appeals will not be entertained.

9. Do I/we need to register before the Audition?

It is an open audition. This means that participants are welcomed to drop by and sign-up on the spot. However, if there is a queue building up, registered participants will be given priority for their preferred time-slot. It is better if you register early with the organizer.

10. Which Audition venue should I attend?

Feel free to choose any location/date which is convenient to you. You may only perform at one venue (unless you're playing in a different band/set-up -- refer toQuestion #3), but do come and give your support at the other venues! :)

11. Can I/we join again in different Audition venues?

If it's the same team-member, dance group, dance act or set-up, no.

12. How will the competition be judged?

There will be no judges for the Audition stage. Performances will be recorded on video and posted on Facebook for public voting. You may Share the video on your Wall and encourage friends to vote by clicking 'Like'. 25 entries with the most votes / 'Like's will qualify to proceed to the Finals stage on 4th & 5th June 2011 at Penang Times Square. The Finals will be judged by a panel of Judges based on intonation, rhythm, quality of tones, and stage presence for band and choreography, originality, synchronization, stage presence and confidence for dance. (note that the judging criteria may change)

13. What do I/we need to bring?

Each venue will be equiped with a 5-piece drumkit, 1 bass amp, 1 keyboard, 2 guitar amps, 3 vocal microphones and a CD player. Please bring your own guitars and backing tracks (if any) in regular Audio CD. Backing tracks MUST be free of the the instrument/vocal that you are performing. Dancers are allowed full song/music track. :)

14. Can I bring my own snare/cymbals/amps/keyboard?

You may, but please be reminded that you are only allowed 2 minutes of set-up time. Incomplete set-up will eat into your performance time, so we highly discourage any time-consuming changes.

15. Is there an age limit for this competition?

No, this talent search is open to all age groups.

16. Do i have to pay for this competition?

You do not have to pay for the audition round but if you are selected as the top 25 finalist to perform in Penang Time Square, you are then required to pay RM50 for processing fees.

Ideas are essential in creating a knowledgeable world-class society which Malaysia strives to be. Being the future community leaders, the voices of the youth reflect their aspirations and ideals for the development of Malaysia and the world. Realizing the importance of youth as an agent for societal improvement, Penang Youth Jam 2011 seeks to provide an opportunity for secondary school students to contribute their ideas and discourse key current issues from their perspectives with the inaugural Youth Jam 2011 “Love Malaysia” Public Speaking Challenge. It is a one-of-a-kind challenge that combines elocution, impromptu speech and debate to enhance the public speaking abilities of its participants.

This competition aims to:

Challenge the worldview of the participants on issues pertaining to social and economical improvements and generating sound and practical solutions for the future,
provide a platform for students to develop their public presentation skills and leadership confidence,
become a channel for youths to present their views and solutions on important issues to community and state leaders,and
promote the learning of the English Language in line with the Government’s aim of enhancing the level of English among school students.

7th May (8.30am - 3.30pm) Preliminary & Final

Participants are to use either English Language or Bahasa Melayu only, depending on their category of participation, in their speeches. Colloquial language (Bahasa Rojak) is disallowed.

The “Out Here Fun Rules” T-Shirt Design Competition 2011

Break away from monotony and discover fresh experiences and set your imagination free while out at sea. Immerse in this colourful paradise that promises nothing but dazzling fun experiences with all the thrills and the frills.

We invite all Fun Rulers to submit the design for the T-Shirt Design Competition organised by Star Cruises.

Participation

For purposes here, the “Star Cruises “Out Here, Fun Rules” T-Shirt Design Competition” shall be referred to as the Competition and the terms and conditions of entry to the Competition including information on how to enter and prizes shall be referred to as the Terms.
By entering the Competition, you confirm, represent and warrant that you have read and understood the Terms and agree to be bound by them.
Star Cruises Travel Service (M) Sdn Bhd (herein referred as the Promoter) reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to amend or vary any of the Terms at any time without prior notice.
The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to terminate or disqualify any entrant’s entry for the Competition or reclaim the prize at any time if it is the opinion of the Promoter that there has been a breach of any of the Terms by such entrant (whether discovered during or after the end of the Competition)
Employees of the Promoter, its holding, and related companies (herein collectively referred as Star Cruises), and their immediate families are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
Participants must be between the ages of 18 to 29 years old and is a Malaysian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Submission Criteria

Each participant may submit more than one design, but only one submission can qualify to win.
Each participant must submit the design with hardcopy and softcopy (CD). Hardcopy is to be printed by participant for submission.
All designs must be submitted between the period of 9th May to 30^th May 2011 in accordance with the submission requirements at the information counter of the following address:

Entries submitted after the deadline stated shall be void. In the event of any discrepancy as to the date and /or time of submission of an entry for the Competition, the Promoter shall have the final decision in resolving such discrepancy.
Please suggest a T-Shirt colour to complement your design.

Mandatory Requirements

Requirement for the competition will be as follows:

Terms and Conditions

All designs submitted for the competition must be original designs by the participants and must not have been submitted in any other contest / competitions of similar event before. Participants should ensure that the designs contain no libellous or unlawful material, instructions that may cause harm or injury and do not infringe upon or violate any copyright, trademark, trade secret or other right or the privacy of others.
In consideration of the Promoter allowing the participants to participate in the competition, each participant agrees that the Promoter is the owner of the copyright subsisting in the design and any subsequent modification of that design uploaded on the website www.starcruises.com
Participants confirm and agree that he or she shall not object to the Promoter and/or Star Cruises using his or her design(s) for printing and product line development. The Promoter reserves the right to edit, disclose or publish the design(s) for promotional purposes. Participants further agree not to disclose or publish their submitted design without the prior written consent of the Promoter.
All submitted materials, including design files will NOT be returned to the participants.
The Promoter assumes no liability for any loss or damage incurred in the process of handling the entries.
The decision of the Promoter is final.
The participant agrees to consent to the use, by the Promoter and/or Star Cruises, of any information provided by the participant including his/ her name, address and email for marketing purpose.
The participant indemnifies the Promoter and/or Star Cruises, their agents, employees, representatives, associates and affiliates against any and all claim, losses, costs, damages, liability and expenses arising out of the participant’s breach of any of the Terms.
The Promoter does not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of participants’ information. This includes but not limited to technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost/delayed/garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of: any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof.
The law applicable to the Terms is the law of the Malaysia and the courts of the Malaysia will have exclusive jurisdiction in case of any dispute arising under the Terms.
Any provision of the Terms that is prohibited or unenforceable is ineffective to the extent of the prohibition or unenforceability and which does not invalidate the remaining provisions of the Terms.

Prize Presentation

All designers will be invited for closing ceremony when the top 3 winning will be announced.
Failure to attend the closing ceremony would serve as an indication that the entitlement to the prize may be forfeited and another winner maybe selected.

EVENT :YOUTH JAM 2011

RULES & REGISTRATION 

Entries:  

Design of the graffiti artwork must portrayed a youthful lifestyle with Sony Walkman or cyber-shot. It must also show the excitement to reflect the carnival or festivity mood.

This competition is open to all boys and girls between 16 – 26 years of age living and studying or working in Malaysia.

Registration fee: RM10 + RM10 of returnable deposit

All the participants will be competing with the others on the spot on 4 June 2011 starting at 3.00pm and all candidates should stop working by 6.00pm sharp. 3HOURS DURATION.

A 8ft(H) x 3ft(W) wooden plank will be erected standing on the ground for each shortlisted candidates to draw on. Every other materials are on the candidates own. Spray paint, used newspaper to cover the ground from paint, face mask and any other materials will not be provided. All candidates are advice to prepare all the materials needed on their own and bring them on that day.

LIMITED TO ONLY 6 PARTICIPANTS.

Judging:  

In the competition a selected team of panel of judges from the design and street arts industry will be invited judge all artworks in preliminary and final round.
